Texas legislatures need to seek cleaner air

Texas state senator Kip Averitt, a Republican from Waco, has proposed a clean air bill, which calls for tighter regulations and modifications of vehicles, plants, and other air-impacting technologies. The bill is currently being considered by the House and if passed, will ultimately result in cleaner air throughout Texas.

The state of Texas is home to several large cities, which could benefit exceedingly from such a bill. Clean air has been a concern for an extended length of time and it demands attention. Areas with large populations such as Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio seem to suffer a great deal from pollution. However, the rural areas of Texas are not omitted. Much of Texas’s rural populations are effected by large plants, which emit a tremendous amount of pollution every second. Having lived in the panhandle for two years I am familiar with the constant smoke rising from the refineries and plants. I lived in Borger, Texas, a small town but home to several plants, including the world’s largest inland oil refinery. The air in this region of Texas is polluted in the form of carbon black and desperately needs cleaner air. I would assume the unmentioned regions of Texas have similar cases.

For the sake of the citizens and the future of Texas, our legislatures need to be seriously investigating opportunities to improve our environment. The severity of this issue is not one to simply overlook. I am grateful that Senator Averitt has taken the initiative and proposed a plan. I believe that if passed this bill has the potential to improve the health of Texans for many years to come.

Texas Legislatures Need to Seek Cleaner Air

Let me start off by saying that this was a good editorial. I completely agree with this classmate of mine. She wrote this editorial on a bill that is currently still in the House. A Republican Senator from Waco proposed a bill that would call for tighter regulations and modifications of air impacting technologies. If the bill is passed, it will result in cleaner air for Texas.

She did a wonderful job in expressing her own opinion about this bill. She gave us an example of a city where the air was really polluted. She urges the people to get this passed. Not only for us and our health, but for our wonderful state of Texas and the future generations to come. I would not change a thing about this editorial. She did a marvelous job in my book. I enjoyed reading your blog.

  2. I will be critiquing on article by Morgan appearing in April 8, 2009 in my classmate's blog, texaspolitics, entitled "Texas legislatures need to seek cleaner air." The author of this article "Texas legislatures need to seek cleaner air" did very interesting job by discussing the proposed clean air bill by Texas Senator Kip Averitt. First Morgan complains about the pollution impact in the big city such as Dallas, Houston, and San-Antonio. His even going far to address the issue of pollution in rural areas by giving his personal experience as resident of Borger, Texas. For the author of this short article the air in Texas need to be clean. By addressing the issue of pollution in Texas by his personal statement, Morgan article gain credibility. Morgan can do more by using statistics and facts to support his argument. Finally, the editor concludes by making his proposal: his appeals to Texas' legislatures about the necessity to make the environment clean by using investigate procedure. At the very end of his article, Morgan congratulates the Senator Averitt for his effort to propose a bill to clean the air, because Morgan believes the health of Texans can be improve for many years if the bill pass the Legislature.
